From June 24 to July 3, 2026, an expedition was conducted to band steppe eagle chicks, collect biometric data and biological samples, and assess the current status of the nesting population in the Bokeyordinsky Reserve and the Ashchiozek Nature Reserve and adjacent areas as part of the implementation of program BR 28712767 - “Study of Ecological, Socio-Demographic, Economic-Geographical, and Paleobiogeographical Aspects of the Urals and Assessment of its Natural Resource Potential”.
During the expedition, 32 nests were surveyed. Chicks were found in 8 nests (breeding success rate: 26.7%). A total of 13 chicks from 7 nests were banded. Banding was performed using steel bands according to standard procedures. Biological samples were collected from 10 individuals. Three new nesting sites were recorded, but their appearance does not offset the overall decline in activity.
