On 4 June 2026, a meeting took place between the Chairman of the Board – Rector, N.Kh. Sergaliyev, and a group of paleontologists from the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St Petersburg, led by Deputy Director I.G. Danilov. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the preliminary findings of the joint field paleontological research in Western Kazakhstan, which took place between 12 May and 4 June 2026, and to analyze the results obtained. The expedition conducted a search for fossilized remains of vertebrates at Paleogene sites as part of research project BR28712767 entitled “Study of Ecological, Socio-Demographic, Economic-Geographical, and Paleobiogeographical Aspects of the Urals and Assessment of its Natural Resource Potential”. The meeting took place in a friendly and businesslike atmosphere, and the prospects for further cooperation in the field of palaeontology were discussed.
