From April 20 to May 3, field research was conducted in the West Kazakhstan region as part of the scientific program BR28712767 ‘Study of the ecological, socio-demographic, economic-geographical and palaeobiogeographical aspects of the Urals region and assessment of its natural resource potential’. The work was carried out by Dr. of Historical Sciences, Professor M.N. Sdykov, Senior Lecturer, PhD D.Z. Sagidullayev, and E.E. Klyshev from M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University.
During the expedition, the digitization of archaeological monuments was carried out. The expedition was organized in the Burlin, Terekti, and Baiterek districts of the West Kazakhstan region. The digitization work involved 3D modeling, terrain mapping, and orthophotoplan surveying using unmanned aerial vehicles at the following sites: the early Iron Age burial mounds Kyrykoba-1 and Kyrykoba-2 in the Burlin district; the Bronze Age settlement of Krety in the Terekti district; several early Iron Age mounds and the medieval settlement of Zhayyk in the Baiterek district. The digitization work will continue.
